CIGAL KAPLAN & TEAM
MEET THE TEAM
Cigal, Founder and Director
Cigal Kaplan founded her studio in 2017, after completing her studies at Central Saint Martins and obtaining a degree in Interior and Spatial Design BA (Hons) at Chelsea College of Art. She has also qualified as a Garden designer, following a distinction from her studies at the British Academy of Garden Design. She began her career working with Andy Martin Associates and then Hazel Collins, formative experiences which shaped the foundation of her practice. Her work is informed by her deep appreciation for building homes and gardens that feel like a dream to live in, connecting the interior to the exterior, where inside and outside flow together seamlessly. Cigal’s favourite part of being an interior designer is the relationships and collaborations with wonderful clients. She loves enhancing lifestyles by designing homes that are easier to live in and beautiful to look at, allowing family life in London to run with ease and enjoyment.
Maria, Interior Designer
Maria comes to us after achieving her degree in Interior and Spatial Design BA (Hons) at Chelsea College of Art. Having graduated, she first worked as an architectural assistant before moving into an interior design studio, where she developed her experience in the field. Here at the studio, Maria works as a senior designer and is involved across all aspects of a project, supporting from initial client meetings and fee proposals through to technical drawings, sourcing and procurement. She is particularly inspired by Humbert & Poyet, and loves their philosophy of using rich patterns and colours paired with more muted, elegant materials and forms. Outside of the studio, Maria is also a swimming teacher and enjoys working with babies and children. She also loves travelling and crocheting, particularly the process of hand-making as a way to switch off. Her favourite part of being a designer with us is seeing projects come together at the end – when the vision is realised and all the carefully chosen elements sit beautifully in the space.
Chen, Architect
Chen studied Architecture and later expanded her expertise with courses in Project Management and Interior Design at KLC School of Design in London. Her interest in interior design developed naturally from architecture, which she sees as closely connected and inseparable. At Cigal Kaplan Interiors, she focuses on the planning and development of projects, creating clear, well-resolved layouts and thoughtful spatial solutions. She draws inspiration from contemporary design, material exploration, and the way different cultures shape spaces and environments. Outside of work, she enjoys playing the flute, travelling, and exploring new cultures. A highlight for Chen was working on a project in North London, where she focused on creating a calm and carefully considered downstairs area in a compact space.
Agnelle, Assistant to Founder
Agnelle studied English (BA) and Film & Screen Studies (MPhil) at Cambridge. At the studio, she works as an assistant to the Founder, supporting the day-to-day running, administration and organisation of projects. She also films and edits video content for social media. She is particularly drawn to heritage homes and Georgian architecture – especially windows – and enjoys seeing how interiors can enhance and respond to historic structures. Outside of work, she dances for a hip hop dance company and is currently writing films and a play. A highlight has been capturing the details of Cigal’s projects on film – from flooring and handles to the way everything comes together as a complete space.
Zoë, Writer
Zoë studied English Literature at Cambridge and UCL, where she began her writing career. At Cigal Kaplan Interiors, she is responsible for all written content, including project write-ups, press pitches, social media, proposals, award entries, blog posts and newsletters. She is particularly drawn to classical materials such as marble, as well as English country garden design. Outside of work, she enjoys reading contemporary fiction. A highlight has been working on the recent Primrose Hill project, where she was inspired by Cigal’s instinct for space efficiency and family-friendly design, alongside creating a visually striking home – including, notably, her dream master bedroom.
