House Interior Design Process

Interior Design London N3 Muswell Hill

At Cigal Kaplan Interiors we will oversee your interior design project from floor to ceiling, front to back. We work with private clients and developers throughout the London area.
Here’s a typical example of how our six-step home design process works.

What are the steps of interior design process?

• Step 1: Meet and greet

Our design journey starts with an initial face-to-face meeting where we hear your design brief, whether it’s to help you move from a different country or build a new home from the ground up. When we have understood your desires for the project, we will write a design proposal. Once the papers are all signed, the planning can begin.

• Step 2: Space planning and research

With an empty space, the way is clear. We swap ideas and talk things through. What is the space for, what feel do you want, what styles do you have in mind? We start to think about materials – such as flooring, furniture, wallpaper, lighting. A concept mood board is created with sample materials, plus a sketch of the proposed design. We’ll present our early findings one week from the initial meeting.

• Step 3: Design and fun

Now the project planning is done, we can prepare a pack for it to go to tender for builders. At this point we start working with furniture suppliers, choosing basic design materials and sourcing products in more detail. Now we will also be introducing specialists like construction engineers and chartered surveyors, for any party wall agreements.

• Stage 4: Confirming and ordering

Builders and tradespeople chosen, we can start placing orders for the project and a specific process begins, known as FF&E (furniture, fitting & equipment). Orders are confirmed and we will be there to ensure they arrive on time, resolving any delivery issues that may arise.

• Stage 5: A hive of activity

This is when your dream home finally comes to life. There’s a lot going on in the house with builders and decorators all working away, walls being taken down or going up, plumbing and wiring being fixed, floors being laid. We’ll be there at every step to ensure the design project is carried out as per drawings and specification: on time, on budget, and to the brief. \

• Stage 6: The end result

Excitement is in the air! Builders, painters and carpenters finish up and move out, as deliveries start moving in. Now you can start to enjoy the beauty of everything we have built together as we style all the rooms, installing furniture, fixing lighting, positioning soft furnishings, hanging works of art, and then...

...handover. Congratulations, your beautiful house interior is ready. it’s time to move in!
