Kentish Town – North West London

A serene family home transformed in just three weeks

Patshull Road was an interior design project in Kentish Town for a French family with three young boys, completed against an unusually tight deadline.

The family had just three weeks before they needed to move into their new three-storey London home, in time for the beginning of the new academic year. Within that window, the house needed to be decorated, space planned and furnished, with new storage, soft furnishings and changes to several rooms.

It was an ambitious programme, but also an exciting opportunity to demonstrate what can be achieved with decisive design, careful organisation and a trusted network of suppliers and trades.

Three weeks to create a home

With no time to lose, we brought together a team of decorators who worked intensively throughout the three-week period while we simultaneously developed the schemes, planned furniture layouts and sourced everything required for the house.

Wherever possible, we selected furniture that was already in stock, allowing us to work within the demanding programme without compromising the overall design. We also commissioned bespoke pieces, including rugs, from trusted suppliers who were able to support us with exceptionally fast turnaround times.

British suppliers were used for much of the furniture, fabrics, floor coverings and lighting. Having long-standing relationships with suppliers and trades became particularly important on a project like this, where communication, reliability and quick decision-making were essential.

Our priority was not simply to fill the house quickly. We wanted it to feel considered, cohesive and ready for the family to make their own.

A carefully considered palette

Colour played an important role in creating the calm atmosphere the clients wanted.

We worked extensively with Benjamin Moore paints, considering how the natural light changed from room to room and selecting subtle variations in tone accordingly. Rather than applying one neutral colour throughout the house, individual walls and rooms were treated differently depending on their orientation, light and relationship with adjoining spaces.

The differences could be subtle, but they were important. This careful layering of tones gave the finished house a softness and sophistication that would have been difficult to achieve with a single colour palette applied throughout.

Despite the speed of the project, these details weren’t overlooked.

Creating something just for her

As the only woman in a household with three boys, our client had one particular request: she wanted some spaces that felt softer and more feminine.

The principal bedroom and walk-in wardrobe were therefore designed using gentle whites and pinks to create a restful and serene retreat.

We had more fun in the powder room.

Here, we introduced a bold Samuel & Sons wallpaper and embraced stronger pink tones, creating a room that feels playful and unexpected while retaining a sense of elegance. It became a small jewel within the house and one of the family’s favourite spaces.

The contrast between the punchier powder room and the quieter principal suite demonstrates how the same colour family can create completely different moods.

Ready for a new chapter

As moving day approached, every part of the programme had to be carefully coordinated. A cleaning team arrived at 5am on the morning of the move so that the house would be ready when the family’s removal company arrived.

The main works were completed in time for them to move in as planned, with a small number of furniture pieces, including a Heal’s leather sofa and bespoke rug, following shortly afterwards.

What began as an empty house with a three-week deadline became a warm, calm and welcoming family home ready for the start of a new school year.

Patshull Road demonstrates that working quickly doesn’t have to mean sacrificing thought or detail. Through careful planning, confident decision-making and strong relationships with trusted suppliers, we created a home that feels serene and considered, despite the extraordinary speed with which it came together.
